Laura Hirsh, Esthetician / Owner
Laura is a Licensed Esthetician, Certified Birth Doula and has an extensive background in Herbology, Aromatherapy, and Alchemy. While working toward her degrees in Business and Film Production, Laura worked in the Health Care field as an EMT as well as a Pharmacist’s assistant.
She began her career in healing and skin care in Northern California, where she originated a successful Aromatherapy product line which she distributed to such stores as Whole Foods Market and Mandalay Bay Las Vegas gift shops. After running the business for several years, and then relocating to Sierra Madre, she decided to take her knowledge of health and skin care to work helping people more directly. She first operated Skin Care and Body Work from a local salon beginning in 2001, and three years later, Laura launched her own business, Skin Care and Body Work Day Spa and Gift Boutique, in its current location.
Laura continues to educate herself on the latest techniques in skin care by attending classes through the American Institute of Esthetics. She has special certification in Microdermabrasion, chemical applications, massage techniques, environmental skin hazards and effective acne treatments. She specializes in customized skin care treatments and custom blended products from the Only YouRx product line.
Laura also contributes a significant amount of her time and resources to helping cancer patients understand and combat the effects of chemotherapy and cancer-fighting medications on their skin. Laura offers a wide range of treatments and services as unique and varied as each of her clientele’s skin care needs. She strives to make each client’s visit to Skin Care and Body Work Day Spa as relaxing and satisfying an experience as possible.
Dominic Moore, LMT / Energy Healer
Dominic is a Certified Massage Therapist and graduated from the Southern California College of Holistic Health (now called ALTA College) in 2003. Holistic Health is an approach to life focusing on the whole person and how she/he interacts with her/his environment emphasizing the connection of mind, body and spirit.
Massage therapy is a major component of Holistic Health because its results are an impressive range of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual benefits. Massage therapy reduces anxiety and stress, relaxes muscles, increases blood circulation, decreases chronic pain, relieves headaches, strengthens the immune system and promotes better sleep. And those are less than half of all the benefits of massage.
Dominic believes that every human being owns the key to a healthy life, however many have misplaced their key. He has been blessed with the ability to help people find their key and direct them to the door that opens to their own true potential. He does this through Healing Massage. The whole person is made up of interdependent parts and when one part is not working at its best, it impacts all of the other parts of that person. By addressing the unconscious mind/spirit as well as the body provides an opportunity for personal growth. Traumatic experiences from our past get absorbed by the tissues & muscles of the body, becoming chronic and holding patterns restricting us from feeling healthy, energetic and happy. These chronic holding patterns are our unconscious responses stored in our body called 'habits'. This affects our chakras; energy centers throughout our bodies, which correlates to levels of consciousness, colors, sounds and physical body functions. It is important that you have a clean and balanced chakra alignment. If the chakras are not balanced, or if the energies are blocked, the basic life force will be slowed down. You may feel listless, tired, out of sorts, or depressed. Not only will physical bodily functions be affected so diseases may manifest, but the thought processes and the mind may also be affected. A negative attitude, fear and doubt may become pervasive in your daily life. To help dissolve these physical and mental habits, Dominic address the mind, body and spirit at the same time with his Healing Massage; a relaxing oil massage integrating Swedish, Shiatsu, Lymphatic & Sports techniques or Chakra Energy Massage, which clears and aligns the energy centers of the body. Each session is tailored to each individual’s needs and goals to create a new you!
Marion Zatezalo / CAMTC Certified Massage Therapist
Marion is a CAMTC certified massage therapist. She has been in practice since 2003. Her years of experience include working in a variety of environments from spas and chiropractic offices, for private clients as well as corporate events. She has studied many healing modalities including Swedish, deep tissue, acupressure, aromatherapy, Cranio sacral, pregnancy massage, lymph drainage massage, cupping, yoga and breathwork. Her warmth and skill creates a space for healing and relaxation. She loves supporting self care and healing for all of her clients.
